17 June-2 July 2005. Puccinis La Bohme is an all-time favourite in Londons West End and John Copleys production with Mark Elder conducting is more than welcome back at the Royal Opera House.

Based on Scnes de la vie de Bohme by Henri Murger, La Bohme is a tragic opera about four poverty stricken artists and their desperate girlfriends. The story concentrates on the couples Rodolfo and Mim, and Marcello and Musetta as well as their friends, all struggling to survive the cold reality of 1800s Paris. Both couples split up and Mimi dies in tragic circumstances at the end.

The production features a feast of established and up-and-coming stars including Chinese tenor Yu Qiang Dai, Polish baritone Mariusz Kwiecien, Italian-American soprano Angela Maria Blasi, and Australian baritone Grant Doyle. Tickets cost from 7 to 160. Showing 17, 20, 24, 27, 30 June, and 2 July 2005. Opens at 19.30 (19.00 on 2 July).
