Keith Haring canvas

12 Oct-3 June. The Stedelijk has reaffixed the enormous canvas painted by the late American graffiti artist Keith Haring, following its recent restoration.

Hanging above the museum's central staircase, the canvas was painted by Haring for his Stedelijk exhibition in 1986, four years before the artist's death from AIDS.

The 12x20-m canvas, which filters daylight into the grand hallway, features Haring's trademark dancing figures, crawling babies and squirming animals. It was painted in one day as part of an energetic public performance by Haring, complete with hip hop music in the background.

Tues, Wed 11.00-17.00, Thurs 11.00-22.00, Fri-Sun 10.00-18.00
