The exhibition is dedicated to the last five decades of the career of contemporary German artist and sculptor Horst Antes, with a particular emphasis on his paintings, of which 90 are on display.
The show at the Martin-Gropius-Bau is the first major solo exhibition of Antes' paintings in nearly two decades.
The works on show range from his brightly-coloured action paintings of the late 1950s to his gigantic paintings of more recent times, as well as his mid-career religious-themed work and paintings inspired by Italy's Renaissance artists.
Curated by Joachim Sartorius, the retrospective incorporates all of Antes' creative phases since the late 1950s and is supplemented by some of his sculptures, books and portfolios.
Wed-Mon 10.00-20.00. Tues closed.
