Hercules Segers

7 Oct-8 Jan. The Rijksmuseum stages what it describes as the "largest retrospective ever" dedicated to Dutch painter and printmaker Hercules Segers (1589-1638).

The exhibition comprises 18 paintings and 110 impressions of 54 etchings by the Dutch master whose mysterious and melancholic mountain landscapes have inspired poets and artists down through the ages.

After Amsterdam the exhibition travels to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
