16 December 2009 - 14 March 2010. This exhibition relates the stories of Jewish people and the places associated with their travels over the 'mountains in the middle of Europe': the Alps. Their history with the Alps has often been a troubled one and their reasons for travelling through the Alpine region have been marred by persecution and forced migration. Their first recorded travels date back to the expansion of the Roman Empire. The exhibition takes viewers from Hohenems to Vienna, from Vienna to Switzerland and finally to Merano in northern Italy.
