6 Dec 2006-5 Feb 2007. The work and art collection of Bauhaus master craftsman and sculptor Joseph Hartwig (1880-1956), including his famous purist Bauhaus chess set of functional geometric forms, is on display at the Bauhaus Museum thanks to a donation from his daughter, Dr Dora Hartwig. The exhibition presents various stages in the evolution of the Bauhaus chess set, first conceived in 1923, from early prototypes to the final version.
