Gao Xingjian: The awakening of consciousness

29 Sept-31 Dec. Although best known for winning the Nobel prize in Literature winner in 2000, the French-based Chinese author Gao Xingjian is also a visual artist.

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium present six monumental works created specifically by Xingjian whose abstract landscapes are a daring combination of black ink and watercolours.

Xingjian considers himself a go-between between the Oriental and Occidental worlds, while his work also acts as a gateway between painting and literature.
