Egon Schiele: Self-Abandonment and Self-Assertion

10 July- 20 Dec. This exhibition at the Leopold Museum displays its collection of works by Austrian painter and leading figure of Austrian Expressionism Egon Schiele (1890-1918).

The works are presented in chronological order, with a focus on the searing and often discomforting intimacy of his portraits and self-portraits, many of them nude and in contorted positions.

The Leopold Museum has around 3,400 works on paper in its collection, predominantly watercolours and drawings, including over 40 paintings and approximately 180 works on paper by Schiele.
