10 March-1 Dec 2006. Madrid city council is presenting a festival of Mozarts music as part of its programme Distrito Artes aimed at making the arts accessible to all residents. Celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozarts birth, Distrito Mozart offers 21 concerts in every district in the city, every month except July and August. The programme includes a performance of Mozarts nocturnes Charlas con Mozart (21 April Distrito Retiro) and the Pleyel Trio playing chamber music for clarinet and violoncello (28 April - Distrito Carabanchel and 5 May Distrito Villa de Vallecas). The comic opera Bastian y Bastiana plays in Distrito Puente de Vallecas on 19 May and in Distrito Arganzuela on 24 Nov. In June Mozarts complete works for string quartet and piano are being performed in Distrito Salamanca (9 June) and in Distrito Barajas (16 June). After the summer break, the Banejee-Azizova Duo play Mozarts piano and violin sonatas in Distrito Tetun on 15 Sept and in Distrito Moratalaz on 22 Sept. On 15 Nov the Distrito Hortaleza hosts a recital by soprano Teresa Sasportas. The final concert on 1 Dec features prestigious chamber music group Camerata Pro Arte and soprano Anne McMillan in Distrito Latina. Admission free.
