Copenhagen International Sand Sculpture Festival

27 May - 5 August. One of the largest sand sculpture events in Northern Europe, the 2012 Copenhagen International Sand Sculpture festival takes place on Ofelia beach situated in the city centre.

The annual event attracts some of the world's most prolific sand artists whose work draws large crowds.

The beach is part of the Royal Danish Theatre's outdoor stage and lounge area on Kvæsthusmolen.

It is surrounded by the port on three sides as well as the Royal Palace Amalienborg, the Royal Playhouse and the Opera House.
