Contemporary Chinese Art from the Sullivan Collection

24 July - 27 January 2013. The Ashmolean presents a selection of works from the Khoan and Michael Sullivan Collection, one of the foremost collections of modern and contemporary Chinese art in the western world.

Regarded as among the leading scholars on Chinese art, Prof. Michael Sullivan resides in Oxford and began collecting art with his wife Khoan in China in the 1940s.

The works on show are predominantly by living artists and have been acquired in the ten years since the collection was last exhibited at the Ashmolean.

The Sullivan Collection will be shown at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing this autumn, marking the first time the collection will be presented to the Chinese public.
