11 Nov-30 Dec 2005. Every year, the Tivoli Gardens in the heart of Copenhagen put on their festive finery with miniature villages scattered throughout the extensive park. Visitors can shop for gifts and seasonal delicacies or stop at one of the many restaurants for a meal or hot snack. A big top in the centre of the gardens houses a snow-covered winter wonderland, peopled with hundreds of mechanical pixies in the little village of 'Nissekbing'. In addition to Tivolis 20 plus fairground rides, entertainment includes performances of The Nutcracker at the concert hall in a co-production with the Royal Danish Ballet and the Crazy Christmas Cabaret at the Glass Hall Theatre, presented by Vivienne McKee. A special event on 13 Dec celebrates the feast day of St Lucia, with singing by the Frederiksberg Church Girls Choir and a parade of young girls holding candles, all aspiring to be chosen as this years St Lucia. Admission to the Gardens Dkk75, under-12s Dkk35, multi-ride ticket Dkk125. Sun-Thurs 11.00-22.00, Fri-Sat 11.00-23.00, 24 and 25 Dec closed.
