Bowie by Duffy - Photographs ’72

The Amsterdam Photography Museum exhibits a selection of images of David Bowie by the late fashion photographer Brian Duffy who worked with Bowie on five photographic projects between 1972 and 1980.

These shoots included work on album covers and the various personae adopted by the British pop star, such as Ziggy Stardust, Thin White Duke, Scary Monsters (& Super Creeps), Lodger and, most famously of all, Aladdin Sane in 1973.

The exhibition provides a glimpse into the creative process of both artists, with a variety of prints, original album covers and images documenting the 1976 cult science fiction film The Man Who Fell to Earth, which starred Bowie.

Along with the work of fellow celebrity photographers David Bailey and Terence Donovan, Duffy's photographs are considered to have cpatured some of the defining moments of "Swinging Sixties" London.
