Berlin's Festtage

4 - 12 April 2009. Each spring Berlin's opera house hosts the hugely popular Staatsoper Unter den Linden Festival, also known as the Festtage. Since opening in 1996, the work of Richard Wagner has remained integral to this glittering musical event in Berlin's calendar. This year will prove to be no exception as Wagner's romantic opera Lohengrin will take centre stage, directed by Norwegian Stefan Herheim. A highlight of the festival will be Daniel Barenboim conducting his orchestra in collaboration with Milan's Teatro alla Scala choir. Also included are Verdi's Messa da Requiem and a symphonic concert featuring world famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang as soloist.
