Asterix in Belgium

1 June-3 Sept. The Belgian Comic Book Centre hosts an exhibition cum learning game, centred around the adventures of Asterix among the Belgians by Goscinny and Uderzo. The exhibition makes reference to Caesar's famous quotation in The Gallic Wars - which features on the front cover of the Belgian Asterix: “Of all the Gauls, the Belgians are the bravest enemies I have ever faced.” Goscinny and Uderzo, who began their career in Belgium in 1951, took delight in peppering the illustrations for Asterix among the Belgians with references to all manner of Belgian customs. The exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to test the extent of their knowledge of Belgium and its traditions.
