Abdoulaye Konaté

21 April-18 Sept. Abdoulaye Konaté is one of the most important figures in African contemporary art and the Malian artist's work has been exhibited in major art institutions around the world. Born in 1953, Konaté is based in Mali's capital Bamako.

His large, vibrantly coloured works are created from dyed and sewn textiles, reflecting themes such as social rights, genocide, poverty, migration and injustice.

The exhibition at ARKEN, his first in Denmark, presents 12 major works from his career over the past two decades, including a new work that has not previously been exhibited.
