150 Years of MAK

The Austrian Museum of Contemporary Art - MAK commemorates its 150th birthday with a number of celebratory events.

Two exhibitions run concurrently from 11 June-5 October: Exemplary: From Arts and Crafts to Design which features nine prominent “design thinkers" who evaluate the MAK collection as a source of inspiration for futuristic design, and After-Images: Exhibitions in Pictures which contrasts old and new MAK exhibitions by examining the changes in how they were presented over the years.

The highlight of the anniversary year is Ways to Modernism. Josef Hoffmann, Adolf Loos, and Their Impact, which runs from 17 December until 19 April 2015 and focuses on the two leading protagonists of Viennese Modernism.

The MAK opened in 1864 and was the first exhibition building to be opened on Vienna’s Ringstrasse.

Wed-Sat 10.00-18.00. Tues 10.00-11.45. Sun 10.00-18.00.
