Vienna’s Lipizzaner mares and foals on show

Six Lipizzaner mares and their foals are on show at the famous Viennese Spanish Riding School from 3-29 July. During this period the school usually takes a summer break while the stallions are away for the summer.

The special summer programme, which is in English as well as German, also includes displays in single harness, in tandem and four-in-hand with riders in historical uniforms.

The mares and foals are visible from 17.00-18.00 Tues-Sun.

The Spanish Riding School has been famous for its classical equitation for nearly 450 years. The Lipizzaner horses, originally a cross between Berber and Arab stallions with Iberian mares, were bred for the Hapsburg monarchy for both peaceful and military purposes.
