Greenhouse gases are to be stored in porous, salt-water filled rock at a site at Ketzin just outside Berlin as part of the European experimental project CO2SINK. Over the next two years, around 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) are to be injected into the rock at depths of over 600 m in an experiment aimed at winning time in the race against global warming.
