Five new underground stations and a new bus route are part of the city councils comprehensive transport project for the Zona Franca industrial park in the Poble Nou neighbourhood. Underground line 9, which is currently under construction, is to have two stations on the Prat del Llobregat airport section of the line and three stations on the coastal section in the Zona Franca area. The new bus line will be operating by June this year, linking the zone with the Prat del Llobregat airport and the Mercabarna district. The bus timetable will integrate with Rodalies Renfe train service in order to make connections easier. Other projected improvements include a new railway line, road widening and the building of a tunnel under the Ronda del Litoral by-pass. The Zona Franca is Catalonias biggest industrial park, with nearly 300 companies employing 66,000 people.
