French retailer Carrefour, best known for its hypermarkets, has announced plans for a one-off luxury concept store on the Place de la Madeleine in central Paris.

The 3,500 sqm gourmet store, which will be called Les Halles de Madeleine, is the first of its kind for the group and will have a prime location adjacent to the famous Hediard and Fauchon stores, bringing it access to an upmarket and affluent clientele.
