Barcelona city council has announced moves that it hopes will boost the take-up of electric powered vehicles in the city. Under a joint agreement with utility company Endesa, the council is to install 161 recharging points throughout the city and introduce a special office to highlight the benefits of electric vehicles to residents.

Barcelona is one of three Spanish cities, including Madrid and Seville, taking part in the government
