17 March-2 April 2006. The Ballet Nacional de Espaa is at Teatro de la Zarzuela for two weeks of dance with a distinctive Spanish flavour. Each performance is made up of two separate pieces, both choreographed by artistic director Jos Antonio. The first work, entitled Elega Homenaje, is a homage to the Seville-born flamenco dancer Antonio Ruz Soler (1921-1998), performed to music by Joaqun Turina with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid conducted by Jos de Eusebio. The second part, entitled El Caf de Chinitas, is inspired by Spanish folksongs by Federico Garca Lorca and is performed against a backdrop of reproductions of Salvador Dalis original canvasses. Acclaimed flamenco singer Esperanza Fernndez performs live with the dancers from the Ballet Nacional. Admission 192-11. Performances Tues-Sat 20.00, Sun 18.00.
