Figures released by city authorities show that the number of serious road traffic accidents in Copenhagen has dropped by 30 per cent over the last five years, reports the Copenhagen Post.

A spokesman for the city council said that the 110 million kroner spent by authorities on road safety features over this period had been effective in saving lives. In 2009 there were 230 serious traffic accidents in Copenhagen, reports the Post.
