Minimum taxi fares for home pick-ups and a supplement of 2 from midnight to 06.00 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays are just some of the new taxi tariffs that will come into force in Barcelona as of mid December. A supplement of 2 will also be added to taxi rides to and from the Barcelona trade fair halls at Montjuc 2. Overall, Barcelona taxi fares are to rise by 5.5 per cent, with the increases only applying at specific times, as agreed by the taxi drivers unions and the Institut Metropolit del Taxi. The new fares, designed to encourage taxi drivers to provide more services in the metropolitan area, will come into force on 16 Dec after being ratified by the Catalan governments price commission.
