The city council has produced three new maps of Barcelona as part of a campaign to encourage residents to leave the car at home. A comprehensive new public transport map includes city bus and underground routes plus information on the airport bus, the NitBus (night bus service), the Tourist Bus, and metropolitan bus services. A second map for cyclists and pedestrians indicates existing and planned cycle paths, including the Ronda Verda or Green Route, pedestrianized streets and ambles as well as suggestions for getting around by bike or on foot. Finally an accessibility map for people with disabilities shows streets where special signposting, dropped crossings and pelican pedestrian crossings for the blind have been installed. This map also provides information on all mobility resources for the disabled in Barcelona. The maps will be available for downloading on the Barcelona City website shortly.
