The troubled ferry company, HD Ferries, which takes passengers and their cars between the Channel Islands and St Malo in France, has now been confined to port again, after their ramp licence at St Helier harbour was suspended by the Jersey authorities.

The travel plans of hundreds of islanders are affected.

An emergency meeting was being held on Monday involving a number of agencies to determine if the ferry vessel will be allowed back into service.

The latest decision follows yet more alleged difficulties with berthing on Saturday
