Jamie Oliver to open Dublin restaurant

English celebrity chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver is to open his first Irish restaurant in Dublin this autumn.

The restaurant is part of the Jamie’s Italian chain and will be in the Pembroke area of Dundrum Town Centre, Ireland’s largest shopping centre,  south of the city centre.

The eaterie will serve Irish produce in dishes created by Oliver and his mentor, the London-based Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo.

Oliver is known for his television shows and cookbooks as well as his high-profile crusade against the use of processed foods, especially in schools.

Dublin is already home to a number of other celebrity chef restaurants such as Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse & Grill on Dawson St, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud on Merrion St, and Kevin Thornton's Restaurant in the Fitzwilliam Hotel on Stephen's Green.
