Less traffic in August has once again allowed the Paris city council to suspend parking fees for 123,000 parking spots out of a total of 145,000. The free parking will benefit residents and visitors alike. Parking meters carrying the sticker "Gratuit les samedis, dimanches, jours fris et mois d'aot" indicate where parking is free over August. If in doubt, press the yellow button on the meter and a sign reading Stationnement gratuit (free parking) should pop up. Payment is still required for 22,000 parking spots in the French capital they include the streets around the Muse DOrsay and spots where the sign on the meter reads gratuit les dimanches et jours fris.
