25 March-15 September. The Museum of Bags and Purses presents a nostalgic exhibition of assorted schoolbags.

Although the schoolbag can conjure up different connotations for different people, organisers say that the show is sure to act as a trip down memory lane.

Through the displayed bags the exhibition will also touch on the changes that have taken place in the Dutch and international education systems over the centuries.

Housed in a 17th-century canal house in central Amsterdam since 2007, the museum is dedicated to 500 years of history of the Western ladies handbag and is built around the 4,000-strong private collection of antique dealer and handbag enthusiast Hendrikje Ivo.
