Rassenfosse or the Aesthetics of the Book

The Bibliotheca Wittockiana, Museum of Book Bindings and Book Arts, presents an exhibition dedicated to Armand Rassenfosse (1862-1934).

The Belgian etcher and painter was an exponent of classical Modernism, specialising in book illustration techniques such as lithography.

He moved in Parisian literary and publishing circles, and produced illustrations for several editions of Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire.

This exhibition examines Rassenfosse as illustrator, publisher-printer and bibliophile.
