Punk, its traces in contemporary art

13 May-25 Sept. Featuring the works of over 60 Spanish and international artists, this exhibition at MACBA examines how the rebellious punk movement has influenced contemporary art.

Installations, archive footage, photographs, videos and paintings document the origins of punk as well as its traces in art today. The exhibition's themes include noise, denial, violence, nihilism, dissatisfaction, nonconformity, and sexuality.

London and New York played a pivotal role in this short-lived and self-destructive movement, which burst onto the scene in the late 1970s and was generally associated with disaffected youth.
