Photography for the Afterlife: Alluring Hell

FOAM examines the oeuvre of the celebrated Japanese photographer and contemporary artist Nobuyoshi Araki.

The exhibition is extensive and spans from the artist's notorious early work, as well as his most recent series of flowers and dolls that has never been displayed in the Netherlands.

Araki is considered one of Japan's most prolific artists and many of his photographs are erotic, even pornographic. He is noted too for his more personal art work relating to his late wife Yoko and his native Tokyo where he was born in 1940.

In the latter stage of his career he has photographed avant-garde pop stars such as Björk and Lady Gaga.
