5 Oct- 23 Nov 2006. Modern Art Oxford (MAO) gallery hosts Thurs afternoon sessions of contemporary music and jazz in the relaxed surroundings of the MAO caf. Featured artistes include electronica sound and visuals duo Random Number (5 Oct), jazz, funk and soul singer Alice Russell accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Dave Noble (12 Oct), Okeanos playing traditional Japanese instruments (9 Nov), the Decibel collective of performers and composers with their eclectic mix of electronic and traditional music (16 Nov) and Marcina Arnold singing folk, blues, jazz and classical compositions (23 Nov). The MAO exhibitions remain open until Oxford Contemporary Musics gig-in-a-gallery concerts start. American artist Kerry James Marshalls exhibition entitled Along the Way is showing until 22 Oct followed by one of Frances most significant living artists, Daniel Burren (4 Nov 2006-21 Jan 2007).
