New for Now: The origin of fashion magazines

For the first time the Rijksmuseum presents its vast collection of costume and fashion prints from 1600 to the first half of the 20th-century.

Before the advent of photography the prevailing fashions were promoted by skilled illustrators whose hand-coloured images and tinted engravings are considered the precursors of today's glossy fashion magazines.

On display are more than 300 prints documenting the changes in women's and men's fashion over the centuries. 09.00-18.00
