Neo Rauch

Bozar presents "The Obsession of the Demiurge. Selected Works 1993-2012", the first exhibition in Belgium of work by German artist Neo Rauch.

A key exponent of the New Leipzig School, Rauch is known for an artistic style that mixes realism, abstraction and surrealism, and draws on a range of influences from comic strip to pop art.

His work reflects the influence of socialist realism, and elements of his paintings are reminiscent of works by surrealist artists Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte.

The Brussels show follows major solo exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Pinakothek in Munich, and the Leipzig Museum of Art.
