Michael Ancher - P.S. Krøyer: Friends and Rivals

Under the subheading "What is friendship?", this exhibition examines the complex relationship between two popular Danish Impressionist painters: Michael Ancher and P.S. Krøyer.

The two men were the best known of the Skagen Painters, a community of Danish and Nordic artists based in the far-northern Danish coastal town of Skagen, mainly towards the late 19th century.

The pair respected and admired each other's work, leading to a fruitful rivalry between them. ARKEN displays almost 100 of their best-known paintings from Skagen as well as a large amount of correspondence.

Tues-Sun 10.00-17.00. Wed 10.00-21.00.
