Jersey Marathon, now in its fifth year takes place on 3 October. The course this year remains the same as in the 2009 edition, starting and ending in the main town St Helier, running through the centre of the island to the north and then to the west and back along the south coast to St Helier. About 40 per cent of the route is now traffic free.

The marathon, which is sponsored by the bank Standard Chartered attracts about 400 runners. There is also a 3 km fun-run and a replay race over a 4-11 km course, which attracts about 200 teams. The prize money for the full marathon is
