Danny Lyon: Conversations with the Dead

Barcelona's Colectania Photo Foundation dedicates an exhibition to influential New York documentary photographer Danny Lyon, a leading exponent of the New Journalism movement of the 1960s and 1970s.

The exhibition concentrates on three separate photographic series, beginning with "Conversations with the Dead", which runs until 18 January. The 76 images in this series relate to a period of 14 months between 1967 and 1968, when Lyon received unrestricted access to photograph convicts in six prisons across Texas.

The other two series "The Bikeriders" (1967), which follows the lives of the American Midwest bikers, and "Uptown" (1965), which focuses on the immigrant neighbourhood in northern Chicago, begin on 23 January and run concurrently until 17 April.
