Madrid citizens can now make their tax declarations at special municipal bureaus thanks to an agreement between the city council and the state tax office, the Agencia Estatal de Administracin Tributaria (AEAT). As of mid-April, community cultural centres in the south-eastern districts of Usera, Viclvaro and San Blas now house an office with personnel trained to help citizens prepare and present their tax forms. The Madrid City council has invested nearly 139,000 in computers and IT personnel for the scheme, which aims to benefit about 27,000 Madrid residents. Appointments can be made by phoning 901 22 33 44. The new offices are in:

Centro Cultural Antonio Machado, 20 calle de Arcos de Jaln (San Blas); Centro Cultural Orcasur, 2 plaza de Pueblo Nuevo (Usera); Centro Cultural El Madroo, calle de Villardondiego, s/n (Viclvaro); Junta Municipal de Usera, 41 Rafaela Ybarra; and Oficina de Atencin al Contribuyente, 45 calle de Alcal.
