Madrid city council is running three months of free educational activities, including courses, workshops, summer camps and guided tours, until mid-September. The Escuela de Verano focuses on respect for the environment and activities take place in parks and council facilities across the capital. Children aged 4-12 years can take part in the popular five-day summer camps (campamentos urbanos) and there are also Sunday workshops for children in the Parque Juan Carlos I on the themes of sport, gardening, the environment and the arts. Courses and guided tours are on offer to adults and family groups as well, with a special maintenance gymnastics course for senior citizens.
