Spain’s drivers get good driving points

Good drivers in Spain are to be awarded an extra point on their licences if they have not lost any points since 2006 when the scheme first came into force.

It is estimated that about 16 million drivers will benefit.

The maximum points now available are 15, three of which have been awarded for good driving since the initial 12 allocated to everyone when the points system was launched.

Only 19 per cent of Spain’s 26 million drivers have penalised since 2006.
