After three years of renovation work, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek housing the Collection of Antiquities in the historic Kaupmann Building has been reopned to the public with improved accessibilty including wheelchair access and a new permanent collection, The Ancient Mediterranean. Other improvements include a new layout for exhibits, with the collection of ancient Roman busts relocated to central positions and descriptions of all objects in both Danish and English. Renovations were funded by a gift of Dkk100million from the Carslberg Foundation to mark the 100th anniversary of the Kaupmann Buildings opening. A repeated emblem of ears of wheat in the floors and ceilings reminds the visitor of the Glyptoteks original benefactor, Carl Jacobsen, founder of the Carlsberg Brewery.
