A trial food waste disposal system for small and medium size businesses has been introduced across Oxford. The scheme is organised in conjunction with ReMade South East, a company that helps national, regional and local organisations recycle products rather than send them to landfill sites.

Businesses will be able to sign up for the trial period of three months before they have to choose whether or not they want to pay for the collection of their waste food.

Under the scheme Oxford city council will get a new recycling vehicle and visit businesses three times a week for collection. The waste is then specially-treated to generate both energy and compost. The programme has been made possible by a
