Preliminary trials of the almost completed Tramway des Marchaux Sud (T3) are being carried out each morning over the 3.2 km stretch of track between Pont du Garigliano and Porte de Vanves until mid-May. Thereafter tests will be extended as far as the Porte de Chtillon. The trams have right of way over pedestrians and drivers and special new stoplights have been installed at intersections along the route. When finished, the T3 tramway will link the 13th, 14th and15th arrondissements, running from Porte dIvry to Pont du Garigliano with an average of six stops in each arrondissement. The tramway development has been accompanied by a tree-planting project. Over 1,000 trees have already been planted alongside the tramlines in the 15th arrondissement.
