Jersey has a new million-pound state-of the-art bus station.

Liberation Station in the Esplanade, St Helier, has been officially opened by the governor of the island, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway and his wife, Valerie.

More than 100 guests, including members of the island's parliament (the States), representatives from the tourism department and property developers attended the unveiling of the plaque outside the bus terminal.

The new terminal has been built a short distance from its old site on the Weighbridge, on part of the site of the former animal slaughter houses, in a brand new building that has been compared to an airport departure lounge.
