The .cat domain name, which will be available from the end of January, is intended for use by institutions promoting and supporting Catalan language and culture. The initial registration process will be phased in from 23 January to 20 April. The Fundaci PuntCat, the foundation that is promoting this new venture, envisions about 10,000 domain names being requested.
