The Ville de Paris has launched a discount parking voucher, the Ssame Artisans Commerants card, for tradesmen and artisans. The new SESAME card allows bakers, butchers, bookshop owners and the like to park for up to ten consecutive hours in front of their shops at a cost of 0.50 daily. Available to professional tradespeople who need their car for deliveries, the SESAME card is restricted to vehicles of under 3.5 tonnes. The initiative is part of the Paris city councils policy of maintaining the diverse commercial fabric of the French capital. For details see the council website.
