Coffee House Conversations in Vienna

Viennese Coffee House Conversations, which start in March, are a new way for locals and tourists to get together and understand the city better.

The meetings will be held in two typical Viennese coffee houses, Café Museum and Café am Heimarkt, and will be hosted in English. Visitors will meet Viennese residents and as “starters” the visitors will be given a “menu” of questions on which to base the beginning of the conversation. The theme is based on the coffee house culture of Vienna  – added to the list of UNESCO’s intangible cultural assets in 2011 – and its importance to the history of the city.

The first Conversation is scheduled on 9 March and will be followed by others in May, July and August. They include a three-course meal for the price of €50.
