A number of big Chinese companies have opted to make Brussels their European base. Although they have not yet been named the regional minister for employment has confirmed that 14 companies, all of them leaders in their sectors, have chosen Brussels over Copenhagen, Rotterdam and London.

One of the reasons given for the choice of Brussels is that it is the centre of decision-making in Europe. Another is the considerable assistance and incentives given to newcomers to set up business in the capital.

Initially the 14 companies will be located in three small business centres in the Greater Brussels area and will work exclusively with Chinese staff.
